Announcing the Top 8 Semi-Finalists for the TiE U Hackathon!

We are thrilled to announce the top 8 teams advancing to the semi-finals of the TiE U Hackathon! These teams have demonstrated exceptional creativity, innovation, and dedication in developing solutions to address real-world challenges in business innovation and sustainability tracks. 

Let's meet the semi-finalists:

B2 - Horizon

  • Team Lead: Preran S Gowda

  • Project Description: Horizon aims to empower small businesses in digital adoption by establishing a scalable, student-driven mentorship model. This approach matches small business owners with college students, providing affordable, accessible mentorship in digital skills.

  • Location: Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering

B2 - BizElevate

  • Team Lead: Aman Bani

  • Members: Tanuj Nayal

  • Project Description: BizElevate is an AI-powered mentorship platform designed to empower business owners with personalized guidance and support. It combines advanced AI and real-world business expertise to provide practical, actionable insights tailored to each business's unique journey.

  • Location: Indiana University Kokomo, Graphic Era Hill University

B1 - S.L.A.P.

  • Team Lead: Luka Neal

  • Members: Andres Lopez

  • Project Description: S.L.A.P. (Student Local Adaptation Program) aims to accelerate digital skills for small business growth by pairing skilled, upper-class students with local businesses to provide mentorship in web design, digital promotion, server management, and more.

  • Location: University of Houston, Houston Community College

S2 - Waste Classification

  • Team Lead: Hanna Khan

  • Members: Haris Ali, Adnan Karim

  • Project Description: Waste Classification aims to effectively and safely sort used PPE eligible for the RightCycle program. They have developed a machine learning and computer vision solution that automates the sorting process based on PPE type, brand, and material.

B1 - SentriBiz

  • Team Lead: Christiana Ola

  • Members: Ayishatu Saeed

  • Project Description: SentriBiz is an AI-powered security advisor tailored specifically for small businesses. It provides personalized cybersecurity recommendations by guiding business owners through a simple questionnaire and generating customized advice.

  • Location: Glasgow Caledonian University, African Leadership University

S2 - Blockchain for Plastics

  • Team Lead: Aarush Yadav

  • Members: Arnav Kumar

  • Project Description: Blockchain for Plastics proposes a system that uses computer vision to classify plastic waste into recycling types using Holy Grail 2.0 codes. This data is then stored in a blockchain to improve traceability and promote trust within the recycling industry.

S1 - RePlastify

  • Team Lead: Shreyash Srivastva

  • Members: Hasan Kamal

  • Project Description: RePlastify offers a subscription-based recycling system for PPE and plastic-based packaging. It involves proper segregation, processing, and recycling of PPE materials, providing an economical and sustainable solution for waste management.

  • Location: Indira Gandhi Open University, Delhi Technological University

S2 - Eco-Scan

  • Team Lead: Tayyib Ismail

  • Members: Hussain Ismail, Ashir Ghani, Abdullah Jawed

  • Project Description: Eco-Scan is a behavior and technology-driven PPE recycling system that combines RFID and barcode scanning, dynamic QR code gamification, and color-coded visual prompts to guide users in correctly disposing of PPE items.

  • Location: National University of Computing and Emerging Sciences, IBA, FAST
